Meeting notes

A quick briefing meeting took place. Ed has decided that she and her choreographer are going to try and do things a little differently, possibly using improvisation in the final performance. Subject matter is going to be Ed’s usual area, touching on the Roman Polanski Repulsion thing that has been floating around in her work for a while.

We might experiment with a moving camera for the performance, so we will need the mixing desk to handle this. The camera person will need to be ‘canned up’ so that shots can be directed if so.

We have Max/MSP and the iCube, and we are going to try and do something with it that doesn’t amount to just a gadget show. There is the possibility to get Max to convert (transcode) inputs and outputs, so that sound can control image, image can control sound, performer can control lighting etc. MIDI is the glue that holds all this together.

There is also the possibility that we could use Carnivore to bring network input into the show, and we had previous discussions about using the Flickr API to get less controlled imagery into the show.

We still have some decisions to make about the final output of all of this: is it a projection, or does it just mediate onto a screen? Via the web? Web streaming?

The first job (for me) is to get to grips with Max/MSP Jitter and make some patches that start to create the functionality we require.
